Manning Up: Including Men to Accelerate Gender Equality
We must engage men – who still wield so much power – thus need to be invested in equality.
Many of us ask: “How do we include men in the conversation?” or “How do I get my senior leadership team invested and on the same page as us?” or even “My partner is supportive, but he doesn’t quite get it.” The mission of closing the gender achievement gap is not just women’s work – it’s everyone’s duty.
Men still wield so much of the power: 80% of government; 80% of corporate boards; 96% of Fortune 500 CEOs. Equipping everyone with the know-how to perpetuate equality and disrupt the patriarchal stronghold is the next step in advancing gender equity. Men need to be the proud bearers of that torch alongside every woman, but often do not understand the current landscape, or are at a loss of how to get involved.
